Editorial principles
Care with people.
Care with the truth.
The principles used to prepare this demonstration, and the standards a live contributor platform should put into practice.
Evidence and lived experience are different kinds of knowledge.
The demo's field guides use named scientific and public-interest sources. They are educational editorial, not reports of TCT projects. A personal observation should not be presented as independent proof of a scientific claim, and a broad scientific finding does not verify every local account.
Fiction is labelled where it is read.
The two creative narratives in this demo are AI-written imagined works. Their voices are fictional. They do not reconstruct interviews, speak for real communities or predict a particular future. The relevant article and its listing identify the work as creative fiction.
Illustrations are not documentary evidence.
Supplied campaign artwork is treated as illustrative, not proof that an event occurred. The Sundarbans satellite image has a separate source, attribution and license. Image credits do not imply that photographers, licensors or scientific institutions endorse TCT.
Real testimony requires a separate process.
No firsthand community testimony is published in this demonstration. Before collecting accounts for a live platform, an accountable editorial team should explain intended use, attribution, translation, recording, storage, foreseeable risks and how concerns can be raised. Contributors need a meaningful opportunity to refuse and a clear understanding of what cannot be withdrawn once material is public.
Protect sensitive information.
A live process should limit identifying detail, use appropriate safeguarding for minors and people at risk, and avoid sharing private testimony with AI providers without informed permission. Participation should never be made a condition of support.
Correct rather than quietly rewrite.
Before launch, the organization should publish a verified editorial contact and a correction process. Material changes to a published factual account should be explained. A live grievance or safeguarding channel is not represented as operational in this demo.
Read the source guidance.
The United Nations guide to communicating on climate change informs the source-based storytelling article. Explore the practical editorial guide for a more detailed starting point.
